Best Floral Arrangement Exhibit (1st Session): Linda P

We start our autumn programme with 6th September when Denise Bright will present her Dem 'These are few of my favourite things, On Friday 8th September we make our annual trip to RHS Wisley Gardens which will coincide with the Wisley Flower show, Surrey Area competition and the Wisley sculpture trail.
Our fiftieth year celebrations have included a spectacular Art & Flowers exhibition was held as part of East Preston Festival week.  The stage was a magnificent depiction of the changes in flower arrangement over the fifty years with a central glorious golden pedestal arrangement. Other club members depicted some of the more unusual anniversaries from wood and copper to wool and music
The next event was the Interclub competition on 22nd & 23rd July, when club members and local clubs competed in a very interesting selection of classes.
We have just held our 'Celebration' Open meeting “Wow”, “What a great afternoon”, “Wonderful”, “Delightful”, were many of the comments as people left the Windmill Theatre, Littlehampton last Saturday afternoon, after a magnificent flower arranging demonstration for our golden anniversary. David Thomson, a national demonstrator, who originates from Glasgow, Scotland presented his designs dressed in traditional Scottish regalia, (which pleased the female audience); an...d what a performance it was. At the end of the afternoon the stage was a mass of flowers, in monochromatic designs. Firstly greens, then pinks, then tropical reds, followed by purple/blues, and differing shades of whites, then finally a special yellow/gold design for our anniversary. The flowers David used were of many varieties and of exceptional quality and most expertly arranged in an assortment of containers “to die for”. Each arrangement was accompanied by a very informative tale, allowing us to peep into his flower arranging life, he was not only an expert designer, but a friendly, easy going entertainer. Our thanks to all other surrounding Clubs who supported us which enhanced the friendly atmosphere.
Our next event is participating in the Weald and Downland Open Air Museums'     It was an afternoon of relaxation and pleasure and a wonderful demonstration celebrating the joy of flowers we experience now, and have done over the past fifty years.

A large team from the club will be participating in the Weald and Downland Living Museum's Autumn Countryside Show (7th & 8th October).  The Sussex Area of NAFAS is holding an exhibition of work at the show, creating a flower trail where some of our collection of rescued historic houses will be delightfully decorated with floral arrangements.

In November club members will enjoy a celebration lunch with a speaker;
